Travel4Good benefiting Rescue Runway Columbus

We are so excited for this new line of travel products available through DarlaTours. It is called Travel4Good.  These are custom crafted trips designed to benefit charities. This one will benefit Rescue Runway Columbus, which represents 6 different animal rescue organizations in central Ohio.  How does DarlaTours help? $200 of every registration goes directly to Rescue Runway. We have also donated a trip for 2 for this exclusive trip to be raffled off by Rescue Runway.   You can find out more about Rescue Runway here.

This trip was designed with furkid parents in mind. It is short, just 6 nights/7 days in Ireland, yet it hits many of the best that Ireland has to offer.

The trip includes airfare from Columbus to a major east coast airport then also includes the transatlantic leg of the journey as well. We will land in Dublin and tour the city, Guinness Storehouse, and the Jenny Lynn famine ship. Dublin is rich in history, from Vikings, to British occupation, to potato famine. Dublin is also a hotbed of Irish culture.  We will end the first day with an early group dinner so you can either hit the town or call it a day.

The second day if a free day in Dublin to explore. Dublin is a very compact city so most places are traveled by foot however they also have a very good bus system. Taxis work on the Uber app. Or let DarlaTours arrange a day trip out of town to the Wicklow Mountains, Game of Thrones tour, or the Titanic Museum in Belfast for a small fee.

The third day we will head west to the Wild Atlantic Way to the Cliff of Moher. The Cliffs are the tallest cliffs in Europe and are breath-taking. We will first tour the cliffs by land. The views are spectacular. We will then head to the docks and catch a ferry to see the cliffs from the sea to get an entirely different perspective. We will then turn northward and travel through the Burrens Geopark. This is a landscape that is found nowhere else in the world and looks almost moon-like.

By the end of the third day we will be in Galway, the friendliest city in Europe. You will find street musicians on most corners and pubs flowing into the alleys.

On the forth day, we will travel to nearby Bunratty Castle and Folkpark.  Bunratty Castle is a restored example of medieval castles and full of history. The folk park let's you travel back in time to see Ireland in days gone by.  We will return to Galway in time for lunch and some shopping.

The fifth day we head north through Game of Thrones territory into Northern Ireland. We will tour Giant's Causeway and learn of the mythical giant, Finn McCool, who is said to have built the Causeway to Scotland. After the visit, you might believe it too. We will end the day staying in the northern walled city of Derry, or Londonderry, depending on your politics.

On the sixth day, we will travel across the heart of Ireland back to Dublin and top off the day with a final group dinner.

For all of you foodies, 80% of all food and drink on this trip will be locally grown in Ireland. Food is very fresh.

We hope you will join us for this incredible trip that benefits some of the best animal rescues in Columbus.

Travel Buddies vs. Crypt & Crawls

When I am out at travel shows and meeting new guests, they often ask why we have 2 different names for trips and why.

These are 2 distinctively different ways of traveling in a group for one thing.  Crypt & Crawl trips are fairly tightly programmed.  Guest get to see many different sites because we run a fairly tight ship.  Almost every day has a set schedule.  C&C trips are usually history/paranormal themed crossed with pub crawls. There usually is at least one day were you could skip the group tour and go out on your own but for the most part, you travel and do things as a group.  C&C trips are often shorter too for those folks who don't want to be gone longer periods of time or don't have as many vacation days.  Usually 5-9 days

Travel Buddies are a different flavor of group travel which DarlaTours kicked off in Spring 2018 with Kilty Pleasures Ireland/Scotland. With Travel Buddies, it is a pick your own adventure style of group travel. We "camp out" in a certain destination. DarlaTours provides various day trip options for you to choose from, then have evening meetup, which are optional, to have a drink and share your tales of adventure. For example, one day during Kilty Pleasures, one group went on a day trip from Dublin to the Cliffs of Moher.  Another group went on a tour of the Wicklow Mountains and saw filming of the tv show "Into the Badlands".  And yet another group toured Dublin and enjoyed afternoon tea.  Three very different days.  We met up that evening and shared pictures and conversation.  These trips are often 10-15 days.

Some upcoming Crypt and Crawls are:
Paris
London
New Orleans

Upcoming Travel Buddies trips are:
Iceland
Kilty Pleasures 2020

We have a few trips that are hybrids, such as Travel4Good with Rescue Runway Columbus and LaBianca Southern Italy.

We like to think we have a little something for everyone.
